Remember, remember the 5th of November...

...gun powder, treason and plot. I see no reason why gun powder treason shoud ever be forgot.

Ooo, I really R
EALLY love fireworks! This year me, Courtenay & Dad
went down to Bill & Julies (mum wasn't feeling well) for their Bonfire Night thing and what a bonfire it was. Given that their garden isn't huge the fire was rather out of proportion (two of the panes of glass on the greenhouse cracked due to the heat!) It soon burnt down to a more managable size. Bills mum was in charge of the BBQ so there was enough food for a coach party as per usual. The fireworks were quite cool & Tyler (who I managed to hold straight after his feed without him puking on me) wasnt frightened by the bangs. In fact he was facinated by the fire and the sparklers. Actually, on the subject of sparklers - why is it the first thing you want to do is write your name in the air but if you get it wrong you cross is out?!?!?! IT'S A RUDDY SPARKLER; JUST WAIT & IT WILL FADE!!! Odd!

So, bonfire night is over for another year. Maybe next year I will go a big display but then I say that every year and every year I don't so I won't make any plans just yet...

I love McFly!!

Star Girl

I apologise for the randomness but I really do love this song so thought I would share the cheesey, teeny-boppy love! Enjoy, one and all ;-)

So the rest of October sucked!

Wow, this updating lark is going to be so easy; between the MB Convention and Bonfire night I did basically NOTHING!

The weekend following the convention was pretty lazy, spent a whole lot of time doing a whole lot of nowt. I did venture into town on Sunday morning but otherwise...nope, did
sweet F.A. Oh, hang on - I did buy a gorgeous dress off of Ebay. Its a Monsoon dress, both me and Courts had seen it in the store. We both totally loved it but neither of us was going to part with £160 just for a dress so we left it. Then, there is was on Ebay! Worm once and being sold with a necklace and shawl/scarf thingy in with it. Mum agreed she would spend £80 on a Leavers Ball dress for Courts and I would spend £40 on a dress anyways so we put in a bid of £120 then I thought better of it and increased the bid to a massive £120.01! Now you may laugh and wonder what bloody difference 1p is going to make but let me tell you, up until about an hour before the auction finished we were winning at somewhere around £75 then there was a flurry and in the last 2 minutes suddenly the bids shot in but we were victorious. The winning bid? £120.01!!! It arrived quickly and is indeed stunning. I am intending to wear it to the work Christmas meal on the 21st December so I shall hopefully remember to get a picture of me in a dress this time!

After my lazy weekend I was full of excitement for another action packed week in the hub of my life - EDF Energy (corr, I think I really hid the sarcasm there, don't you agree?!?!) My excitement was cut short though by a rather evil stomach bug that left me with the sh............OK, you don't wanna know about this really do you?! Lets just say I felt awful and really not comfortable being at work so I ended up coming home at about 2.30pm on the Tuesday and not going back into work until the Monday. I basically spent the week splitting my time between bed/sofa/toilet! Delightful!

At the weekend I did make yet another trip to the garage in Newton Abbot due to the brakes on my car still not being right. I spent the morning mostly nursing a coffee and reading my book in Costa Coffee since N'Abbot can only entertain you so much. At lunch time, just before they shut, the garage rang with good news:- they had found the problem and it would be rectified at no extra cost to me. Unfortunately they had bad news too (suprise suprise right?):- the problem was they had fitted the wrong brake discs! No, I really wish I was joking! It turns out that when they had my car the first time they fitted break discs that were not ABS compatible. Idiots! So I had to get a bus home and I was in shock when I found that a single from N'Abbot centre to opposite my house was nearly £5, I can definately see why no one uses public transport unless they have to. O well, hopefully thats the end of it all now.

So that was October.............well the excitement is almost too much!

Welcome to the BBA...

Hello, my name is Teri-Ann and I am a Bad Blogger! This is the first official meeting of BBA (or Bad Bloggers anonymous) on Me, Moving Forward. The better part of three whole weeks ago I promised to bring my blog bang up to date the following day. What have I acheived since then? A singing hippo & dancing dog YouTube clip....shocking! So here I am to do what I should've done ages ago - I am going to update as best I can!

Enjoy!

I can't believe its been so long

I have to say I am surprised at myself that I haven't blogged about anything since I told you the ultra exciting story of the Work Do (!) I haven't just stopped functioning since then, promise. Actually I have blogged on the Doing Stuff blog but not over here, which is a bit mean to my original blog, my baby! So, sorry Blog, I'm back and shall make a concerted effort to blog more often & more regularly.

Unfortunately I am having a mental block about what I have actually done since the 20th (well not so much what I have done so much as in what order) so as my diary is out in my car, its half ten at night, I'm watching a Bond film on ITV2 not to mention that it is really rather chilly (!!) out at the minute I shall update my blog FULLY tomorrow morning.

So, until tomorrow.... xxx

Work 'Do'

Friday 20th October was the works Major Business Convention at the Great Hall at the Uni.

The whole thing was free to every member of the Major Business department with a champagne reception followed by a three course meal then a disco and a band. There was also a casino in an ajoining room which everyone had 20,000 chips for. Oh and we all had 4 free drinks vouchers for the bar. The advertised highlight was the 'celebrity' guest - Countdown's Roy Walker!!

We were seated at around 6.30pm (I was on a table with 7 other people I hadn't even SEEN before never mind spoken to so didn't have high hopes for a great evening) Roy came out & did what he apparently does best - wittered on in a somewhat embarressing way cracking old, unfunny jokes, looking confused about why he was there and generally trying to work out where the bar was! But I suppose it was quite amusing, slightly uncomfortable at first but once you remembered it was HIM making an idiot of himself it became funny in the sense that is wasn't funny! After Roy we were talked at by the bigwigs on Major Business who quoted figures & tried to be funny (taking a leaf from Roys book they achieved painful humour but not comedy!)

After all that excitement (!) things went a bit down hill. We were told dinner would be served at about 8pm...at 8.30pm our table got there starters. Some tables had finished theres AGES ago, some tables were still waiting. The service didn't improve with us finally getting our main course at .... wait for it ... 9.40pm!! On a plus side the people on my table turned out to be really nice and we all bonded over the fact we were ready to mug the next waitress that walked past us carrying food to another table! Infact one of the guys on my table did look familar but not from work so I was trying to to work out where I knew him from (I should mention I thought he was quite attractive!) At about 9 o clock I suddenly realised he was the spitting image of Bruno from Footballers Wives!! Well once the food had eventually hit the tables it was really nice & then the disco started. I had a dance and a couple drinks then decided to call it a night.

The nicest thing about the do was the dress code which was 'Formal' so everyone had a chance to really dress up & make an effort. Nearly all the women were wearing really nice dresses and, shock of all shocks, even I wore a dress! It is a totally gorgeous dress from Monsoon that is boned at the top & flowy at the bottom so what it doesn's squish into shape it just skims over!! I borrowed a little bag & shawl from Grandma and sent Mum on a shoe mission to buy me glittery black shoes (because you can never have TOO MANY shoes!) Even if I do say so myself I looked pretty good.

It wasn't the best night out ever but since it was free it wasn't too bad! I dread to think how much money work shelled out but it can't have been cheap. Work are good with things like that. Infact there is another convention spring next year (NOT to be held at the Great Hall apparently but at the new Rugby Club convention centre) and we have got a team Christmas night out in December that work are footing the bill for.
So roll on Christmas and the chance to wear another posh frock!

PS - I would upload some pics but my blog is being a TOTAL pain in the arse and says its put them in but no, it has not! So be patient - they will hopefully be here sometime soon...! **Yea - a picture!**
