John’s gone…

Well this is weird…last night, in true Wednesday tradition John & I went out for the evening however we didn’t go to the cinema. We went to the Waterfront for pizza and a couple of drinks which was really nice – the place looks weird after the refurb but the food was good & the service was quick as always. After stuffing ourselves silly we headed back to my house to watch The Last King of Scotland on DVD and to play on the net. I have to admit I felt like I was glossing over the fact that this was his “leaving dinner” as I am going to miss him so much. I know it is just really selfish and that he is only going to Scotland not the other side of the world but since he got home form uni we have seen each other almost every week and I have got so used to having him just down the road. I am really really going to miss him. I really do wish him well and I hope that he settles in ok and finds his feet quickly. He is my best friend and I want him to be happy with the decisions he makes and will support him no matter what. As I did say to him it is much better to go and make an informed decision as to whether it is right or wrong for you than to not go on the off-chance it is the wrong choice and then spend forever wondering if maybe you were wrong.

So…Good Luck John! xXx

Bank Holiday Weekend

Was meant to be going to the gymkhana with Dad Sunday but when I got up it was hammering down at home and I decided that I could probably put up with being cold & wet all day and I could probably put up with James who was going but I didn’t think I could put up with being cold, wet AND being with James all day! So in the end I stayed home. Worked out well since me, Mum & Courts went to the 7 Stars for lunch (even if they did forget me originally but they remembered me in the end!) It rained ALL day on Sunday so I felt I had made the right decision until Dad & James got home and said it hadn’t rained where they had been! Oh well, I had a good day anyway.

Yesterday the weather perked up and Simon & Tim came to visit. It was weird seeing Simon again after all this time but it was really cool & relaxed. Simon & Tim both rode Sputnik & Courts rode Megan.

So that was my lazy Bank Holiday weekend. I haven’t got a lot planned for this week, going out with John on Wednesday but that’s the sum of it. Next weekend is busy though.

Just a quiet week...

Had a quiet week really, work, messing up with field with the foal, playing on the net...nothing exiting in anyway!

Went to the cinema last night with John to see Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. It is obviously one of the most hyped films of this year and, although not as good as the first two in my opinion, I liked it!
Gonna have a lazy Bank Holiday weekend now, got no plans other than a gymkhana tomorrow with Dad so will just see what comes up!

Had a brilliant weekend a’visiting!

This weekend has been brilliant!

John and I drove up to Clare’s straight after I finished work on Friday (well I drove, John left his car at my house) We arrived at Clare’s with perfect timing as she drove in and parked just after we got out of the car.

Friday night consisted of a trip to Waitrose to buy Pizza & Pudding (all of which was yummy!) then chatting, eating, drinking, laughing, more chatting – good night was had by all basically!

Saturday John and I were both awake by just gone 8am for some reason but as we were both sleeping on air beds in the living room we chatted for a bit then turned on the TV before Clare eventually surfaced and we went into Salisbury town for some site seeing, photo taking , DVD renting, general mooching and CAKE! We took John to the chocolate shop (
http://www.chocolatesandpatisserie.com/) for brunch type thing! Clare and I, having learnt our lesson last time, had homemade lemonade (with a scoop of lemon sorbet) then Clare had scones with clotted cream & jam and I had a small (but WAY rich) chocolate ganache tart. John however was drawn by the sight of the Black Forest Gateaux…foolish foolish boy! It was slab like, totally gorgeous but slab like! Needless to say he didn’t eat it all and then felt ill! After cake we went around to the cathedral for some photo moments (which lead to much hilarity involving a giant Vice Versas and then me & Clare on a bench – don’t ask!) We decided to make our way back to Clare’s flat, via Blockbuster to get some DVDs (since I forgot to take Last King Of Scotland up!) since the weather wasn’t great – quite cold and very windy – and looked like it was going to get worse. We certainly made the right decision since just as we were leaving the town it started to rain and as we came round the corner to Clare’s it tipped down! Nice! It was fine though, we got dried off, put food in the oven (yummy nibbly things) and settled down to watch The History Boys (one of mine & John’s top 5 films for last year) I must admit I did doze through some of it but never mind eh?!

We had to make another trip to Waitrose for dinner related foodstuffs (pasta followed by hot chocolate brownie goo cake!) then, after dinner and a few drinks we played Cranium – me & John against Clare & Dave. There was more drinking accompanying the playing and much laughter and unfortunately (very unfortunately in fact for Dave!) some drinking and laughter at the same time resulting in drink being projected with much force out of the mouth & nose of the person concerned and all over the table, the Cranium board and Dave!! (Ok, the person spitting on Clare’s boyfriend was me but in my defence Clare had been told NUMEROUS times NOT to talk when I was drinking!) Anyways…after a swift change by Dave and a wipe up by John we continued the game with John & I emerging victorious although to be honest I think the scoring was a bit off since we just wanted the game to last longer!

The night then got messy, sorry messier when we decided to take photos…outside…at 12.30 at night! Yup, Clare’s neighbours now hate her! We were rolling around on the floor, making friends with the brass ducks and jumping off rocks all causing much hilarity. Photo evidence on MySpace/Facebook!

We eventually got to sleep at some God-Awful hour of the morning only to wake up at 8am AGAIN! Due to the pain I was in (knee due to rock jumping, side due to rolling on the floor & head due to vodka!) I decided the best course of action was to get up and have a shower…then lie on the sofa watching the Hollyoaks omnibus! I was joined on the sofa by John and eventually Clare where we discussed the need for hangover food. We gallantly made our way to Burger King (!) then on to the cathedral green type area where we sat in the sun, ate hangover food then lounged around for a bit enjoying being outside and warm! We tootled back to Clare’s to watch Sideways but it wasn’t really a great film in my book (not that either John or I saw a lot of it since we both went to sleep!) but Clare enjoyed it so that’s fine. John and I made our way home from Clare’s about half four and, except for the other idiots on the road, the drive home was fine.

I had a totally awesome time with Clare and John & me all together again. Its going to be really weird thinking of John so far away in a couple of weeks but I wish him well & I know we’ll be in touch – I’m going up to see him in August – so it’s not too bad. Its just that since he moved home from uni I have got used to him being just down the road & to us meeting up every week. I mean, who am I going to Orange Wednesday with now?! O well, I will just have to deal with it.

Looking forward to the weekend

I’ve had a relatively quiet couple of weeks since the Bank Holiday – been to the cinema to watch Spiderman 3 (really good!) been chatting to Chris Simmons (from school) and Graham Dance (from the rallying type peoples) on MSN then gone and got a cold-flu type thing which is nice. Spent all last weekend in bed trying to get rid of said cold-flu thing. Well I did go to Johns for dinner on Friday evening and then slept through Casino Royale on DVD! And Saturday afternoon I went into town for a drink with Gareth but it made me feel so drained. That’s been pretty much the story for this week actually – living on lemsip and getting through a staggering amount of tissues trying to clear my cold ready for this weekend…

ME & JOHN ARE GOING TO VISIT CLARE! Woo! Really looking forward to it!

Long weekend!

Had quite a cool week this week – work has sucked but what’s new but outside of work, all good.

I went out with Gareth on Tuesday night for a meal. We met in town and then walked up to Harry’s in Longbrook Street. Had a really nice meal but I think I probably pissed him off since I was a bit cranky and he really annoyed me when we first met up as his phone went off and he answered it (which on its own isn’t a major crime!) but he then proceeded to have a conversation with his mate about cars…nice. That’s great manners there! Anyway the evening improved and I think we had a good night.

Wednesday saw me and John at another Orange Wednesday cinema visit. This time it was to watch ‘The Lives of Others’ which is the film the beat Pan’s Labyrinth to the ‘Best Foreign Language Oscar’ spot. We went primarily to see what made it better than Pan’s and, truth be told, we’re still not really sure! It was a good film; based in East Berlin after the end of WW2 it follows one surveillance man and the couple he is tailing. It was a bit slow moving in places and not one I will be making an effort to watch again but still good. Not as good as Pan’s though! I went to the cinema again Thursday night but this time in Plymouth with Gareth to see Fracture, the new Anthony Hopkins movie. Another good film with a good cast and a nice twist at the end.

Thursday we had a new arrival in the Howard Family. No not another chav child (thank god!) but Maggie May, one of our horses, FINALLY had her foal! She was born at 2.12am under the full moon and she is beautiful! Currently without name although we are thinking along the lines of May Moon (it’s May, there was a full moon – see how we were thinking there?!) Think she’s gonna be an ideal way to waste time since we can just sit and watch her run around!

Friday didn’t really go to plan though…I was meant to be going away for a couple nights but that’s not happening now. Gareth has decided he just wants to be friends (story of my life) which, although I wish it was different, isn’t the end of the world I suppose. We haven’t known each other very long so life goes on and you can never have too many mates! Anyway it freed me up to go out and play with my friends! I went out Saturday with Carla and her mate Rachael which was cool, we laughed so much, it was like old times. I really enjoyed it. Yesterday and today have been a mix of cars, laziness and BBQs which has been cool – best way to spend a Bank Holiday!
